Ben Lee was discovered at 14 by Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys. His solo debut, Grandpaw Would, was released in 1995 on the Beastie Boys Grand Royale label and was followed by four critically acclaimed albums filled with intelligent pop melodies. 2005 saw the release of Ben's fifth record, Awake Is The New Sleep, which garnered rave reviews and four Aria Awards (Australia's equivalent to the Grammy). He has also collaborated with Ben Folds and Ben Kweller under the moniker "The Bens." Lee made his feature film debut in the title role of the Australian comedy, The Rage Of Placid Lake alongside Miranda Richardson and his music has been featured prominently on Grey's Anatomy, Weeds, One Tree Hill as well as a nationwide Dell Computer advertising campaign. 2007 will see the release of Ben's sixth and most ambitious recording to date, tentatively titled Ripe.
