Columbia College: Film Scoring in the Windy City of Angels

December 15, 2009

The Columbia College Music Composition for the Screen MFA program offers one of the nation's few advanced degrees in music scoring for film, television and other visual media, and is recognized by industry leaders as a genuine point of entry to this highly competitive field. Four semesters are spent in the cultural center of Chicago, where under the tutelage of film and music industry veterans, students receive their basic training and learn in a supportive environment things they would otherwise have to learn "on the job." ASCAP's Charlyn Bernal and Alisha Davis recently visited Columbia College's Summer in LA program, which brings out a select group of MFA students for a final thesis semester in Los Angeles.
