Jerry Herman and Hair Receive 2009 Tony Awards

Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical picked up a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical at the 63rd Annual Tony Awards ceremony, held June 7, 2009 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. A Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre was presented to composer/lyricist Jerry Herman, who has one of the most enviable track records in Tony Awards history, earning nominations for six of the seven Broadway shows he created (Milk and Honey, Hello, Dolly!, Mame, Mack & Mabel, The Grand Tour, and La Cage Aux Folles) and winning for both Dolly and La Cage.
