THE ANNUAL SOCIETY of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) reception for Academy Award-nominated composers and songwriters, co-hosted by ASCAP, was held at the home of John and Bonnie Cacavas in Beverly HIlls on Saturday, March 6th, the night before the 82nd annual Oscars. ASCAP writers and international affiliates earned seven out of the ten nominations spread across the Original Score and Original Song fields. Composer Michael Giacchino, who won the Oscar in the Original Score category for his music to Up, also earned two Grammy awards for his music for the same film.
