Yo-Yo Ma

June 01, 2010

Born in Paris to Chinese parents, the multiple Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma studied many instruments before discovering his true calling. At the age of five, he was a child prodigy, showing his immense talent on television and performing for Presidents Kennedy and Eisenhower by age seven. Today, he is a world-renowned cellist and orchestral composer, never failing to deliver moving music. Ma's new album, Songs of Joy & Peace, is no exception. His diverse range of musical capacity finds him exploring all different genres, sometimes even defying categorization. His new album reflects this great range, but still has the common ground of, as he describes it, "uniting different forms of joy."
