On The Road - ASCAP's Vans Warped Tour 2010 Video Dispatch - George, WA

Portland (Hillsboro), OR - August 15, 2010

Our sixth and last day on the Vans Warped Tour is also the final day of the tour overall. Everyone is feeling bonded and even a little philosophical about the journey we've been on. We ran into the party prophet himself, Andrew W.K., backstage and thought, 'Who better to sum it all up?' He gave us some of his sage insight on speaking about, singing about and bringing about the party, and afterwards, we caught his rowdy set. It was the perfect end to what has been a truly awesome tour. Check it all out in our final highlights video to the right! And keep checking back for more interviews from along the way.

George, WA - August 14, 2010

Day five and we're a little delirious. Is it just us or does all the music sound loud? Caught some killer sets from the likes of Alesana, Breathe Carolina, In Fear and Faith and Anti-Flag. We're in George, and we're in a gorge.

Nampa, ID - August 13, 2010

Everyone is punk rock at Warped Tour, right down to the crew. We even spotted a Slash look-alike operating the forklift! In some less than stellar news, Friday the 13th brought some bad luck for B Foundation, whose bus broke down en route. But the jinx didn't seem to dampen the music, as all throughout the day, bands got the fans on their feet, and in some cases, over other fans' heads! Check out clips to the right of everything we saw, the weird sights we just mentioned, and performances by Artist VS Poet, Attack Attack! featuring Cassidy from Hey Monday, Emmure, Every Time I Die, Far From Finished, Anti-Flag, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business (Ace Enders) and Pierce the Veil.

Marysville, CA – August 12, 2010

We spotted the Oompa Loompas in Pomona, but it wasn't until Marysville that they showed their true colors. These three Wonka associates are huge fans of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, as they display proudly in their "Thriller" dance in the video on the right. Hard act to follow? Not for Andrew WK, who whips up the crowd and pounds his chest in a pure rock frenzy. Check out clips from his show in our video as well as a shout out from Attack Attack! and an interview with Pierce the Veil.

Pomona, CA – August 11, 2010

Just to add a little more excitement to the tour today, Dillinger Escape Plan lead singer Greg Puciato was stuck on the 71 freeway outside Pomona right up to his set time. So did DEP reschedule, or perhaps cancel? What, and let down the fans? No way. Instead they enlisted a fan from the crowd who claimed to know all the lyrics to get up and stage to sing the first song of the set. The stunt bought Puciato just enough time to haul himself into the fest, and he came running up onto the stage to finish the song with the lucky attendee. Check out a little video of the stunt to the right!

We also saw so many great bands today like Gardening Not Architecture, Hey Monday, Our Last Night, Pierce the Veil and Alkaline Trio and had some great talks with Sarah Saturday (Gardening Not Architecture), Jersey from Hey Monday, and Mike Posner, all of which will be up in video form shortly, but some tasty highlights are already here!
Check 'em out.

Mike Posner

We ran into Mike Posner backstage in Pomona. His album was #1 on the iTunes charts and he was riding high. We stopped to congratulate him on the huge accomplishment, and he was cool enough to answer a few questions about his songwriting, his Warped Tour experiences and his humble beginnings as a dorm room recording artist. Check out the interview in the video on the right!

San Diego, CA - August 10, 2010

Our first official stop on our Vans Warped Tour ride along was the Cricket Amphitheatre in San Diego, California. It was hot to say the least, but that didn't stop the crowds of diehards from hitting the front of the stage to mosh their brains out. We jumped in to soak up some of the ear-splittingly awesome sounds of bands like Dropkick Murphys, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Parkway Drive, Mike Posner, The Adolescents and the Dickies, and were stoked when we ran into our buds Pat Thetic from Anti-Flag and Tay and Rob from We Are The In Crowd, all of which is crammed into the video on the right.

Some stuff happened that we didn't have time to whip out our cameras for, like a Dillinger Escape Plan mosher, smiling through his bloody mouth and broken teeth, then re-entering the pit for another go-round, the last song by mohawked punk lifers The Casualties when they brought what seemed like every single Warped Tour attendee up onstage, and a Saved By the Bell-themed dance-off at the ASCAP co-sponsored backstage BBQ that resulted in several instances of male nudity. Needless to say, we had a blast on our first day. Stay tuned for more in depth interviews from San Diego with We Are the In Crowd and Anti-Flag. Viva Pomona!
