Randall Grimmett Promoted to Executive Vice President
New York, NY, July 7, 2010: Today, John LoFrumento, ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Chief Executive Officer, announced the promotion of Randall Grimmett to Executive Vice President, Domestic Membership Group with responsibility for ASCAP's Membership offices in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Atlanta, Miami and Puerto Rico. In his expanded role, Grimmett will continue to report to LoFrumento.
Since taking over ASCAP's Domestic Membership operations in June of 2008, being promoted to head the group in December of that year and then establishing responsibility for ASCAP's Nashville Regional office earlier this year, Grimmett has created significant competitive advantage through targeted market share growth across all musical genres. Under his leadership, ASCAP has established a world class Membership organization, overseen the acquisition and retention of many prominent members and has implemented state of the art business practices and procedures. The key to the group's success has been providing ASCAP members with demonstrable career opportunities and tools including the ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO, online ASCAP Member Access, enhanced member recognition programs, a powerful member benefit program and effective representation at an expanded list of ASCAP sponsored and supported national and regional events.
LoFrumento commented, "Randy's business, financial and legal skills have led to a responsiveness to members that has made ASCAP the place to be in this volatile music marketplace. He has created a Membership team that has brought a new industry standard to serving members."
That Membership team, established and groomed by Grimmett, is led by the following talented and experienced music professionals:
Sue Drew - VP of Pop/Rock Membership. Sue took over ASCAP's Pop/Rock Department in October 2009 after a successful 20-year A&R career spanning Elektra, Chrysalis/EMI and Reprise, and having signed artists such as Phish, They Might Be Giants and Michelle Shocked.
Tim DuBois - VP and Managing Executive of Nashville Membership. After his appointment in February of this year, Tim has been overseeing a major restructure of ASCAP's Nashville Regional office. A veteran songwriter and industry executive, he has run Arista Nashville and Universal South.
Nicole George - VP of Rhythm & Soul Membership. Nicole joined ASCAP in 2008 and was named head of the Department in June 2009. She has restructured the department to meet evolving member needs while maintaining a leading market share.
Shawn LeMone - VP of Film & TV Membership. Shawn, a 15 year ASCAP veteran, was appointed to head the Department in June 2009. During recent months he has led the transition of the department from long-time head, Nancy Knutsen, who remains as a special consultant to ASCAP.
Alexandra Lioutikoff - VP of Latin Membership. Alex has led ASCAP's Latin Department since 1998 and is now responsible for its worldwide Latin music initiatives. She was just named a Billboard Latin Power Player, an indication of her industry impact.
Frances Richard - VP and Director of Concert Music. Fran has had a leading role in building and maintaining ASCAP's dominant place in Symphonic and Concert Music since first joining the organization in 1985.
Grimmett stated, "ASCAP's competitive advantage is now significant as we look across all of our musical genre groups. We will continue to demonstrate and build that advantage for the benefit of any songwriter, composer or music publisher that wants to take everything that only a member owned and run organization like ASCAP can provide. When you are part of an ownership that is totally focused on career optimization, there are no competing interests to get in the way."
